Marble Quarries
Classic tour
The tour begins aboard a Mercedes minivan heading toward the marble basins, traveling across the picturesque Vara Bridges (Ponti di Vara) and along the ancient route of the Marble Railway. At Fantiscritti, participants continue with a private, roughly one-hour 4x4 Jeep tour. An expert guide will explain the evolution of extraction techniques, from ancient history to modern machinery. The day concludes in the historic village of Colonnata with a walk followed by a tasting of the famous Lardo di Colonnata IGP alongside other local products.

Tour inside the quarries
The tour begins with a scenic drive through the historic tunnels of the former Marble Railway toward the Carrara Quarries. At 11:30 AM, guests depart for a private 4x4 Jeep excursion 700 meters above sea level to discover extraction techniques and mining history. The journey continues at 1:00 PM with a visit to the "Marble Cathedral," home to an impressive reproduction of Michelangelo’s "Creation of Adam." At 2:00 PM, you will reach the ancient village of Colonnata for a guided walk and a traditional light lunch featuring the famous Lardo di Colonnata and other local delicacies.
