At PFDM, luxury meets sustainability

How to combine luxury and sustainability in the hospitality sector? At Principe Forte dei Marmi, we ask ourselves this question every day. This has led to a reflection that closely involves the entire hotel in a process of adaptation to the standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, the international organization that promotes sustainability and social responsibility for tourism.

A widespread commitment to sustainable tourism

To concretely support the energy transition and promote an increasingly respectful management of people, territory, and environmental resources, we have planned gradual and widespread actions to implement over time. The commitment we have undertaken will gradually reduce our impact for the benefit of the wonderful territory that hosts us and future generations, without ever neglecting the high-level experience that PFDM is committed to offering.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

On the path to more sustainable management, details make the difference. In setting goals to achieve, we have planned a series of daily good practices to adopt to reduce our impact and make the best use of available resources. These include:

  • elimination of single-use packaging in favour of reusable containers;
  • an increase in recycling to reduce waste throughout the hotel;
  • optimization of energy consumption through keycard activation systems and centralized air conditioning control.

Additionally, we have invested in renewable energy production facilities, permanently reducing our energy footprint. In the transition to more sustainable and conscious management, even the tools of our work have been renewed. Means of transportation, stationery materials, furnishings, and body products: everything is chosen according to ecological criteria.

Keyword: don't waste

At PFDM, our key practice is not to waste, for example; flexible linen changes to through environmental cleaning, we try not to waste even a drop of water and promote responsible use of water resources by our guests, suppliers, and internal resources through precise indications and training activities.

Sustainability on the plate at Lux Lucis Restaurant

The fight against waste and the balance between luxury and sustainability are best expressed at the tables of the Lux Lucis restaurant, the flagship of our commitment. Chef Cassanelli's circular approach (link to article on cuisine) and collaborations with biodynamic agricultural companies in the area demonstrate how a starred gourmet cuisine can offer unforgettable experiences while respecting quality and biodiversity.
